SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN POLICY

           Introduction

1.     Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy is run by:

2.     Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy is based at:

St John's Community Hall, 194 West Street, Erith, DA8 1AN

3.     Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy has adopted this safeguarding children policy and expects every adult working or helping there to support it and comply with it.

Consequently, this policy shall apply to all staff, managers, trustees, directors, volunteers, students or anyone working on behalf of Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy.

 

 

          Purpose of the Policy

1.     This policy is intended to protect children and young people who receive any service from us, including those who are the children of adults who may receive services from us.

 

2.     As an organisation we believe that no child or young person should experience abuse or harm and are committed to the protection of children and young people and this policy is intended to provide guidance and overarching principles to those who represent us as volunteers or staff, to guide our approach to child protection and safeguarding.

 

              Policy Aims

1.     Promote and prioritise the welfare and safety of all children and young people

2.     Ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and are aware of the correct procedure to report any concerns they have to the appropriate person/s in charge

3.     Ensure that all allegations and suspicions of abuse and poor practice are taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately

4.     Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy will work in close partnership with children, young people and parents/guardians to review and implement child protection and safeguarding procedures

5.     Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy strive to provide an environment which promotes equality and ethnic diversity free from any form of prejudices or bullying

Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy requires all staff members have approved clearance via a DBS Check. -Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) and its structure is often used as an example of Best Practice when Child Protection issues are discussed-

All parents/carers are required to complete the Theatre Box disclosure form which details contact and emergency contact details as well as permission to photograph/video their child for the purposes of Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy’s advertisement and marketing.
