The Children’s University (CU) is an international non-profit organisation that provides 5 to 14 year olds with access to exciting and innovative CU Learning Activities and experiences outside of the normal school day, encouraging children to develop their knowledge and skills whist increasing their aspiration for the future through taking part in extra-curricular activities in Bexley and beyond.
Bexley Children’s University delivers the scheme in partnership with the London South East Children’s University who work across Bromley and we join a wider partnership of over 90 Children’s Universities in different local authority areas across the country.
We celebrate achievement and reward participation through the award of Children’s University certificates. Children are issued with a Passport to Learning and are encouraged to travel to CU Learning Destinations and complete CU Learning Activities. Each hour of CU validated learning brings the child closer to a Children’s University graduation certificate presented at a locally organised CU graduation ceremony.
Activities at the Learning Destination…
· Enable children to develop and improve their skills and knowledge
· Are fun and challenging, helping to raise aspirations and broaden horizons
· Are undertaken voluntarily, usually outside of normal school hours, and can include after-school and lunchtime clubs
· Relate to a subject that can be studied in Further or Higher Education
· Raise aspiration, showing children that learning can be challenging and fun.
